Outdoor Kitchens

We do not pour the concrete or lay the block. We supply everything that goes into it, and we tell your contractor the dimensions before they build the hole.

A built-in grill and griddle set into a finished outdoor kitchen island, installed by The Weather Shack

What goes in an island

The components, and the order to choose them.

Choose the grill head first. Every other dimension in the island follows from it.

Grill head

The centerpiece and the one fixed dimension. Everything else is built around its cutout spec.

Side burner

For the pot that would otherwise be in the kitchen. Worth it if you actually cook out there rather than just grill.

Doors and drawers

Access to the gas connection and the propane tank, plus somewhere to keep tools. Stainless, sized to the opening.

Storage and trash

Pull-outs and bins. Unglamorous and the thing people most regret leaving out.

Before your mason starts

One conversation saves a rebuild.

Bring us the plan. We will mark the cutout dimensions, the ventilation requirements and where the gas needs to terminate, and you can hand that to whoever is building it.

The rebuilds we see are always the same two things: a cutout that does not match the grill, and no way to reach the gas connection once the stone is on.

  • CutoutExact width, depth and height per the grill spec
  • VentsBoth sides of any enclosed LP island
  • Gas stubWhere it comes up, and reachable afterward
  • Counter overhangEnough to open the grill hood fully
