Mesa, Arizona · Since 1982
Forty-four years on East Main.
The Weather Shack has sold fire and sold cooling from the same stretch of East Main Street since 1982. Family owned then, family owned now.

Ken Dapkus runs the place. If you call during store hours there is a good chance you get him, and if you leave a review there is a certainty he reads it — he answers every one.
The business started with evaporative cooling, which is still half of what crosses the counter. Fireplaces came next and became the bigger half. Both are still here, which is unusual, and it means the store has something to sell in July as well as in January.
We are a dealer for the lines we carry rather than a marketplace for whatever is cheapest this month. That is a deliberate choice. It means we can get you a part in five years and it means a warranty claim is a phone call we make, not a form you fill in.
The building is a black arched quonset with the name across the front. You have driven past it. Next time, pull in.
How we work
Four things we will not do.
Sell you the wrong size
Oversized stoves get run choked down and undersized coolers never catch up. We would rather lose the sale than have you unhappy in August.
Disappear after delivery
The parts counter is the whole point. If we sold it, we can still help with it long after the box is gone.
Hand you the warranty
If a manufacturer needs calling, we call them. You bought it from us, so it is our problem.
Pretend to do everything
We do not go on roofs and we do not lay block. We will point you to people who do, and we will supply the parts they need.

Come in and ask us something hard.
That is genuinely the fastest way to find out whether we know what we are talking about.
